Globalizing with a Rising China

2012 Harvard AUSCR Program for American-Chinese Exchange

March 24th – 31st, 2012

Harvard University

Introduction

The Harvard College Association for US-China Relations (HAUSCR) is pleased to present the 2012 Harvard AUSCR Program for American-Chinese Exchange (HPACE). HPACE aims to bring together top students from universities across China and Harvard students in a weeklong series of events and activities to promote a mutual understanding between the students of both countries. Running parallel through the week will be a series of speakers from diverse backgrounds presenting their unique perspectives and expertise on the theme of the program this year, “Globalizing with a Rising China” that is open to the greater Harvard community.

Objectives

The ultimate goal of HPACE is to build bridges across the cultural gap between Chinese and Harvard college students. We want students from both countries to come away with deep personal connections to one another and a greater understanding of the differences and, perhaps, the surprising number of similarities shared between the two cultures. Through the various activities held to promote interactions between our exchange students and the Harvard community and our open speaker series, we also hope to further an appreciation of current Chinese affairs among Harvard students. Lastly, HPACE is also designed to expose our select group of exchange students to the experience of a Harvard education and to the experience of higher education in the United States in general.
